Our Story

As a serial entrepreneur with a keen eye for unique investment opportunities, Phillip Viljoen discovered the remarkable potential of the Defender 2.8i, captivated by its incredible origin story. His journey began in 2018 with the acquisition of a Defender 110 2.8i Hardtop from Land Rover enthusiast David Foye.

n 2020, amidst the global Covid-19 pandemic, Phillip encountered an article in Road & Track magazine that highlighted the extraordinary story of the Defender 2.8i. It was then that he learned his Coniston Green D110 Hardtop was one of only 94 ever produced in this particular configuration. This discovery sparked his mission to seek out and preserve more of these rare vehicles across South Africa.

Recognizing the importance of preserving the legacy of these South African icons, he founded Made You Look, a business dedicated to the restoration and international sale of Defender 2.8is. 

Later reconnecting with David Foye, Phillip leveraged David’s extensive project management expertise to establish the commercial aspect of the venture. Together, they ensure that each restoration project is executed with meticulous attention to detail, preserving the legacy of the Land Rover Defender 2.8i for future generations to enjoy.
